The history of JVC starts in 1926 when one of the co-founders, doctor Takayanagi, created for the first time the letter "I" from in the Japanese alphabet on a CRT. The following year Victor Company of Japan was founded. Since then the name JVC is related to a vast number of innovations and technologies including the invention of VHS for JVC, the first Japanese TV, the first vinyl recordings, the first portable video recorder and many more.
In 1996 JVC makes the smallest and lightest digital video camera in the world, and 3 years later they win the EISA award for the miniDV video recorder which is compatible with S-VHS-HR-DVS1.
After 75 years since it's founding, in 2002, JVC presents the 6.1 sound for Home Cinema and the HDD unit for DVD and VHS players. The most recent innovation was in 2005 when JVC reliced the first digital video camera with hard disk in the world.
Since its beginning JVC was the icon of high quality addressed to usual users. In all these years JVC was the sponsor of many events including the International Jazz Festival, World and European Soccer Championship.
